Stop Alcohol Impared Driving
SAID
(Stop Alcohol Impaired Driving)
An educational course for first and second-time EBA offenders
The Stop Alcohol Impaired Driving course is designed to help first and second-time EBA offenders gain a better understanding of alcohol, how it affects the body, and why it can sometimes remain in your system for much longer than you expect.
Rather than simply focusing on the offence, the course provides practical information to help you understand how alcohol affects your ability to drive safely, how long it can take your body to process alcohol, and why common ideas about “sobering up” may not work the way many people believe.
The aim is to give you useful knowledge and practical strategies that can help you make safer, more informed decisions in the future - for yourself, your passengers and everyone else sharing the road.
With thanks to funding from Road Safety Northland.
Is This Course for Me?
- Have you ever wondered why you were still over the limit?
- Perhaps you had eaten, slept, had plenty of coffee, or simply allowed what you thought was enough time before driving - yet you were still over the legal alcohol limit.
- Maybe you genuinely thought you were okay to drive.
This course will help explain why that can happen. You’ll learn more about how alcohol is absorbed and processed by your body, what can affect your alcohol level, and why feeling okay does not necessarily mean you are safe - or legally able - to drive.
Most importantly, the course is about helping you understand what happened and giving you the knowledge to avoid making the same mistake again.
